New York City

I had the opportunity to go to NYC a couple weeks ago for work. I was really excited about it since I had only been to the city once before, when I was 20 with my sister Bryana. We did all the touristy stuff back then: Rockerfeller Center, Empire State Building, Natural History Museum, The Statue Of Liberty, The UN, Webster Music Hall, The Art Museum, Soho, and even riding the subway up 50 blocks to see the restuarant that they used in transitions for Seinfeld (that was MY idea)!! The purpose of our work trip was for the company picnic in Central Park. Not to mention - I have never met anyone from the company! (Besides my boss, who I work with in our remote San Francisco office).

I stayed with my friend Hayley that I waited tables with at Hyde Park Grill in Austin. She lives in the East Village, so it was a very ecclectic part of town. We saw the musical Rock of Ages, about an 80's hairband wannabe - all music from 80's hairbands! It was really cool, Constantine from American Idol was the star, very fitting. Our NYC office was in Time Square, above where TRL used to be filmed. SERIOUSLY - our office is in MTV headquarters. It was really funny being there. We went to Central Park to play games and have our picnic - it was much hotter there than I was expecting! Afterwards I met up with some friends from high school, Mark and Kim, who are engaged and lived very close. It was nice catching up, we haven't seen each other since we were 18! Hayley and I then went to her boyfriends place in Brooklyn. Jonathon used to work with us too, so it was nice for the 3 of us to have a reunion and hangout together. He took us bowling with his roommate, who also was from Texas, at this place in Brooklyn that was brand new and seriously the coolest place I have ever bowled in my life! The rest of the week was spent hanging out in the East Village, Brooklyn, Chinatown, and getting desert at Serendipity's! I saw a lot more of NYC this time and really enjoyed Brooklyn. I really want to go back during Christmas time. I think it would be amazing!

San Francisco Half Marathon

I know that this post is a week late, but I have been busy with many things!!! I will blog about all that stuff later, but first I wanted to mention that I actually ran the half marathon last weekend and it was great! It has been my goal to run a half marathon for the last few years now. And I am so relieved that I really did it - nothing kept me back. Running across the Golden Gate Bridge was my absolute favorite part. It was very foggy that morning, and all i could see were the orange poles of the bridge - nothing else! The worst part was definately after I finished, I was not prepared for how sore I was going to be. It was incredible, I was sore in places I didn't even know I could be - in my bones! Anyways, I am glad I finished my New Year's Resolution! It would have been nice to have someone there to cheer me on, but in a way I am glad I did it on my own. I came out here to San Fran alone, and so even this journey felt like something I had to do by myself.

I miss you all!!

SF Artist

At the North Beach festival this past weekend, Shannon and I saw this artist who we both loved instantly. Too bad I can't afford to buy any of her stuff! I posted some of her works so you can see how unique her work is. Enjoy!

Vegas this weekend!

I am going to Vegas for the first time in T minus 2 days! This weekend I will be staying at the Mandalay Bay at the end of the strip. I hear that their pool is amazing and only reserved for hotel guests. I can't wait to get me some sun out there - it's my only chance of a tan all summer! I love San Francisco, but I am seriously living in fog right now.

Hope your weekends are going to be as exciting as mine!

Happy Anniversary San Francisco!

It has been 1 year. I can't believe it! 1 year ago I began my journey of myself away from home, in a new place, with a new job, with new people in my life. Time feels like it has flown by, but it also feels like its moving slowly at the same time. This time here in SF so far has been very rewarding for me - I can't wait to see what happens next!

Spamalot last night @ Golden Gate Theater

I went to Golden Gate Theater last night with my friend Cynthia to watch Spamalot finally, as I have been waiting for this all year. John O'Hurley was the best! He played the famous J. Peterman on Seinfeld so of COURSE I loved this. It was very similar to the movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. So if you haven't seen that (and who hasn't seen that?) then you might be a little confused. (Who says you still might not be a little confused even if you have seen it? It's so ridiculous it's hilarious!). Anyways - this was much better than my last theater experience at Grease. If you have the chance to see Spamalot and you like slap stick humor, than this is the show for you!

Memorial Day Weekend in Austin!

I am so excited about this long weekend ahead of us. I am coming to Austin for Steven's sister's graduation from UT. I can't believe 2 years ago I graduated. How time flies! I remember my last semester clearly, that's when I met Steven for the very first time in class. Funny how we really didn't know each other during this time in our lives, but I am very glad that we both went to UT and appreciate how important and life changing that graduation is.

Their family is throwing a boat party on Town Lake on Friday night after the ceremony, and then we are going out to celebrate with his sister Jessica. I can't wait to be back in my favorite place, with the people I love, having a great time! I am so excited to see my family - all of us will be together again which rarely happens. It will be a nice little break!!

Radiohead working on new album!

I am so excited! From NME.com:

Radiohead's Colin Greenwood has told NME.COM the Oxford band have begun recording their new album with producer Nigel Godrich.

The bassist revealed that the band went into the studio to start work on the follow-up to 2007's 'In Rainbows' last week (beginning May 11)

"We've just started work [in the studio] last week," he told NME.COM. "It's really cool and everything is sounding great. It's early days and it is a bit like having a scrapbook at the moment because everything is up in the air, but it's good to be back in the studio."

He was quick to praise Godrich, who has produced every Radiohead album since 1997's 'OK Computer'.

"He's brilliant," Greenwood gushed. "He can make everything sound like it's working together rather than us trying to kill each other."

Greenwood was speaking at Brighton's Great Escape festival, which took place over the weekend (May 13-16).

SF 1/2 Marathon: July 26, 2009

I registered! I will be running the half marathon in July! I opted to do the first course - the one that goes across the Golden Gate Bridge. I mean, when else are you going to be able to do that in your life? I am nervous about running across the bridge, but it's something I have always wanted to do since I have lived here and I know I will feel so good about myself once I complete it. Now the running over the hills will be the worst part...

Ladytron & The Faint @ The Fillmore tonight

Ladytron

The Faint

Tonight I am finally going to see Ladytron! They tour quite a bit and for some reason I always miss them. The Faint is playing with them and they always put on a good show, so I am excited about the music festivities this evening! The Fillmore always is a fun place to see people - I am so lucky I have the opportunity to hangout at the iconic venue as much as possible.
